1994 - After graduating from UTS with a Bachelor of Design I was encouraged by Fashion Industry representatives to keep designing and producing the exciting range of knitwear I created during my final year of study. The mission was to "change the identity of knitwear" which I did from my Newcastle base. Producing collections with a small local team, distributing to Boutiques nationally for the next four years, after which came my new venture- family, and multiple trips to the Northern Territory. The Business was put on hold indefinitely, and now a million years later it is ready to re emerge. Whilst in the NT, I completed a Certificate III and IV in Business and a Certificate IV in Design at Charles Darwin University where I also discovered Aboriginal woven products which inspired me and now adorn my home back in Newcastle. Tropical gardens in the Territory were also a source of delight and inspiration which I have attempted to recreate in Newcastle.
Today I am in my 40's, and preparing to rejoin the Fashion Industry in a productive, stimulating and financially rewarding way, back in Newcastle where it all began. First, I need to establish a studio base, then may the fun begin....
